Tomorrow we go a travelin'

Tomorrow is the day when we all fly to North Carolina's Outer Banks. Destination: Nags Head for my first Pelletier family reunion. We were here just 2 years ago for Tiffany and Lance's wedding. In fact, we're staying in the very same house we stayed in before. It's a really nice 3 story house with a pool and a hot tub - though we probably wont be using the hot tub much. The weather is supposed to be mid 80's all week so that will be a great break from our weather here in Arkansas where we've been experiencing mid 90's regularly for the past few weeks.
We saw a picture of you this morning at the OBGYN where Kendra had another ultrasound. You appeared to be irritated at the doctor's manuevering of the ultrasound device. I felt sorta bad for you. I hope there are no lasting emotional scars. Ha. Preg-Dra As you can see, your mom is getting pretty huge with you filling up her insides. It's not an easy thing carrying around a little human being all the time, but she's done remarkably well adjusting to the extra weight, the stretching ligaments and tendons and skin. Your mom and I are completely in love with you already, and can't wait to hold you in our arms. For now, we'll settle for feeling you roll around in the womb. Well, I need to finish packing for the trip. We just returned from a last minute trip to Wal-Mart to get some sunglasses, a hat and bug repellent. It's around 12:45 in the morning now, so good night. ~Dad

The ho hum day

20050615 - Kendra's BellyToday was an average day in our lives. Went to work, displayed exemplary leadership (for a non-management level employee), had an amazing workout afterward then tanned at Z-tans before going home. Tanning is not part of my usual routine, but we're going to a Pelletier family reunion in Nags Head, North Carolina which is part of the beach area known as the Outer Banks. I am so stinking pale by nature that I decided to be prepared instead of getting burned when I'm there. It's really funny because I had to go for 2 minutes to start out. I went 3 minutes yesterday and today. Tomorrow, 4! My skin is so sensitive...I'm afraid your mom and I will pass that along to you. Hopefully that is the worst thing. :)
Yesterday, I got a new side job doing a website for an organization at UCA called The Bear Den. It's the student athletic spirit organization, and it's really cool. For my first run at the layout, I started out with a big bear claw mark slashing through the middle of the site. The school colors are purple and gray and I'm using heavy black as the support color. I'll put a link in this blog soon, and you'll be able to see it.
I love you little buddy. See you soon!!!

After the storm

The title isn't a metaphor. It actually rained quite a bit here over the past 3 days. The weird thing is that the temperature is so hot...90's and the humidity is in the 70's. I'ts just like a sauna. There is steam rising off the roads around our house. I grilled some really good, high quality hamburgers for your mom and I for dinner. We ate them with some potato chips, and some fresh Arkansas grown tomatoes from the farmer's market in the River Market (downtown Little Rock). We watched the first game of the 2005 NBA Finals while eating. And now I'm writing to you while I sit on the floor here in the living room watching the game with your mom. Detroit is battling San Antonio, and we're both rooting for the Spurs although we think that Manu Genobli plays dirty and we dislike him for that. Your mom is laying on the couch right now because her back has been bothering her. Especially the right side in her ribs. She said you spent the night before pushing up into her ribs and she didn't get any sleep. (She's feeding me what to say). Your moving a whole lot right now (at this stage), and we like to watch you rolling around. Sometimes, I'll put my hand on her belly and I'll feel you push up on my hand. I'll talk to you and push down gently, and you'll push back. It's like we have a little game once in awhile. I'm not sure who wins, but I enjoy playing. Heheh. Your mom just said about Tim Duncan (San Antonio), "Boy, he's a big cat!". If you ever get a chance to watch film of him play you should. He's extremely good because of his aggressiveness, finesse and because he's 6-11. I hear he's a real gentleman too, which is just icing.
And now for a recent story from the news. In east Texas, a 19 year old boy and his 17 year old girlfriend decided to engage in some sinful activity, and she became pregnant with twins. I'm not sure why, but she decided that she didn't want to have the babies, so she tried to do things to kill the babies in her belly. When she failed to miscarry the babies, she asked her boyfriend to help her. At her request, he stomped repeatedly on her belly and the babies died. It is a horrible tragedy and a waste of life. These two kids knew what they were doing, and are guilty of murder. However, the boy was sentenced to life in prison and the girl was completely exhonerated - set free, declared innocent and within her legal rights. Can you believe that? Ever since the Supreme Court decided Roe Vs. Wade, it has been legal in America for women to kill small children. ...unbelievable.
I look at your mom's belly, thinking about you growing in there...you are an innocent, living, thinking human being, created by God and given to us as a gift. How in the world could someone look at another similar child and even consider doing what these kids did? They are not innocent. The lives they snuffed out were innocent. In my opinion, these kids deserve capital punishment. I think the same about anyone who commits similar murders whether they be recipients or administrators of abortions. I hope that our nation turns from this evil, and that you never have know a world where this atrocity is accepted. On that heavy note, I'm going to sign off now. Even though I've never met you, I love you already. ~Dad

June is here and the belly is growing!

First Shot of June
Son, your mom is under your heavy burden. I wish I could carry you for her. We're going to head to Wichita for father's day and a baby shower that Kim and Laurie and Tammy are hosting for your mom and me. It will be a long trip to get there - 7 hours. Your mom is excited b/c she just bought a special back cushion for the trip. She can use it at work, or anywhere she's sitting for extended periods of time. Thank God for the little things that make life a little easier. NBA update: San Antonio beat Phoenix for the Western Conference championship, and Miami is leading Detroit 3-2 in their series. They play again tomorrow night in Detroit. Shaquille O'Neal is dominating the show for the Heat.
There you go - cya later.
