Pepere and Nana are crazy!

TShirt ContestYou may read that title as really harsh, but seriously consider it when you're older. You'll know exactly what I mean! Just take a look at this picture - feeling you in the womb. We had a really good couple of days together here this week. They came from Alabama to stay with us Wednesday thru Saturday. Pepere brought his computer so I could fix some problems, and we had a good time watching NBA playoffs, and eating out, and eating in, and laughing and joking around. We still haven't put the carpet back into our bedroom closet, but I hope to do that tomorrow. I also have to mow and get the yard looking good in time for Kim, Phil, Kaitlyn and Olivia's arrival. They're due sometime late in the day tomorrow (Saturday). They're staying thru Tuesday morning, so we're looking forward to a lotta fun.

Water we gonna do?

Kendra's BellySo far this month, we've discovered that there are problems with our lawn sprinkler system and our master bath toilet. Yesterday, we fixed all the problems with the sprinkler system. I don't know when I'm going to get to the toilet. It's leaking a tiny bit of water out of the bottom, so I'm thinking it's the grease ring. I'm no toilet repairman though, so it could be "toilet dew" for all I know.
Kendra on the runway
I have to point out that the fix to the sprinkler system was due to the timely help of my friend Rob and neighbor Lloyd. Without them, I'd be lost (still). Well, I thought it was good time to update you on your mom's belly shots. Today she's sporting this lovely little black blouse with linen capris. Isn't she a runway beaut! We finished watching the Star Wars saga tonight. Return of the Jedi. What a great movie. Then we watched the end of the Miami Heat vs. Detroit Pistons basketball game. The game was in Miami, but the victory went to Detroit. I'm pulling for the Heat in this series. I like the "Shaq O'Neal", as my mom refers to him. Oh, and we signed up for birthing classes and "swaddling" classes tonight online. We scheduled them for July, so hopefully we'll remember everything when you make your appearance.
Good night litte buddy.
PS. We're getting closer to a name for you everyday.

The biggest pillow in the world!

bigpillow2If your mom ever tells you she has never indulged in a single thing for herself, remind her about the pregnancy pillow. As you can see, this is the Mercedes Benz of pillows. I think it even has its own life support system. I gave it a test drive (or is it a test snooze?), and I told her "good luck getting me out of here". The thing is like a cockpit for an airplane...custom fitted to hug your body all over. It's just hilarious. And of course she says it's all for you. Yeah, right.bigpillow1
I feel compelled to tell you what we did with our evening (besides take bedroom pictures). First we watched the season finale of the television show "The Apprentice". Donald Trump awarded a very deluded and self-involved girl named Kendra the job of renovating one of his mansions. What a tough life. Then we watched the Indiana Pacers vs. the Detroit Pistons in game 6 of their semi-final NBA series. I'm rooting for Indiana and the old pro Reggie Miller. If all goes well, I also want to watch Star Wars Episode 1 tonight before we go to bed. (Your mom is in a heated discussion with your uncle Chris about ethics in the workplace right now. It's 9:36pm).
I love you son! ~Dad

Back in the swing of things...

This past week has been a bit of a trip because I'm getting back into the routine. The routine that was left behind one week ago... It's nice to get back, and hard at the same time. Work (at Perks.com) was pretty good (though challenges sometimes come where I least expect them), chores around the house are a bummer, catching up on my reading was really good. I finished Fast Food Nation which I borrowed from your Aunt Tiffany while we were in D.C.Fast Food Nation I may never allow you to eat ground beef unless I cook it here at home, or unless we know where it came from and who prepared it. That book talks about some of the practices in meat packing plants. It's not very appetizing. I makes me much more appreciative of the gift of meat that my grandparents would give my family when I was growing up. They would have a cow butchered and split up between all the families. Talk about fresh, high quality meat! That's about as good as it gets. Wow, I never meant to go on this tangent...heheh. So, this week in the evenings I have been getting the pictures and memories of our trip onto my website.
Here's the link. We had an incredible time, and saw a lot of historic sites. There is too much to see in D.C. to take in all in the span of a week. I can't wait to show you one day!
Today, your mom and I bought some mulch for the front yard, and flowers for the back yard, and planted them late in the afternoon.Flowers Tonight was game 4 of the Miami Heat / Washington Wizards playoff series. Miami won the game, and swept the series. Washington was just overmatched in this series. It was a great game though, and we thought that the Wizards might pull out this one game. I think that the Heat will take the championship this year. I discovered today that our lawn sprinkler system is not working properly. The water pressure is too low. I called Rob Lively (previous owner of the house), and he gave me some suggestions. I also got some suggestions from a guy at Home Depot. I checked a few things that they recommended, but nothing turned up. I also looked all over the web, and got to know my sprinkler system much better. However, nothing fixed the problem, and tomorrow I'll have to try a few more things...ugh. Sometimes, I wish I had a no maintenance yard. No mowing, no weeding, no sprinkler issues, no edging...just living! Until that day, I have plans to get you into the yard work schedule by age 3. Ha!
Love you buddy!

Your Mom Is A Super Trooper

Dude, we trucked all over D.C. today, and Kendra was feeling the weight of carrying you big time. Sometimes it was painful for her, but she put her head down and pressed on. Denny in Sculpture GardenWe have been hitting the sites of the town really hard. Yesterday we rode the Old Town Trolley and saw all the major sites in a quick overview/preview. We decided that today we'd drop our plans to see the Holocaust museum and sleep in. We had been going so hard earlier in the week, and we needed a chance to recuperate our strength. Today we saw Chinatown, the MCI Center, ate lunch at "Legal Sea Foods", the National archives, the Museum of Natural History (the Hope diamond), the Sculpture Gardens, and the Old Post Office Museum bell tower. The view from the top of the bell tower is fantastic. Ben Franklin at Old Post OfficeWe got tipped off from one of the guides on the Old Town Trolley about the tower's view. It's the 2nd highest structure in the city, only bested by the Washington Monument. In the evening, your uncle Lance and I got some food from a little place called "Chipotle" which is known for their HUGE burritos. Mmmmm...argh... Excuse me, I just choked on my drool. I have a bit of a weakness for good food, and this is the good stuff. Your mom is pretty amazing, showing a lot of strength while enduring a lot of pain. Be sure to thank her when you grow up. You're in a lot of my pictures (in the womb) because she persevered. I'm heading to bed. We've got a big day tomorrow. Your aunt Tiffany is taking us around the town, so we're in for a treat.
Love, Dad.
