Tomorrow we fly

Tomorrow (actually, later today) is your first time to fly ever! We're all going to Georgia to be with Kelly and Vinny for Christmas. We're doing everything we can think of to make the trip comfortable for you including flying to a small airport in Macon which will save us renting a car and driving 2.5 hours from/to Atlanta. We're pretty excited and I'm sure your mom & I will remember this trip for the rest of our lives. I'm just worried that you're going to have a #2 on the plane. :)

Breakthru?

It appears that your cold is starting to get better. We've been praying hard for you and doing everything to help you get better. The doctor said that you may have RSV, so we've been keeping a close eye on you. Your breathing has gotten much less restricted, so that has been encouraging news. We have been pretty worried.
I talked to dad tonight, and he says that your cousin Olivia has mono. I haven't talked to Kim yet, but we'll have to pray for her. That can be pretty hard to get over.
Tis the season for colds. Your mom bought a humidifier tonight, so we'll be using that first thing.
Love, Dad.

Your first Christmas cold.

You are in misery at this moment. Momma is trying to comfort you, but you won't find comfort. You have your first cold. It started late last week...maybe Thursday or Friday. It was just a little cough, and we watched it escalate Saturday night into a rattle. You have a lot of drainage and we are watching as you develop your ability to cough it out. You're pretty darn good at it. It's good to know that your immune system is developing well.
Tomorrow is your 4 month doctor visit. You turned 4 months today - happy monthday. I'm afraid that tomorrow you are going to have to get shots. I'm really sorry, because I know that you don't like them very much. We are going to give you some Tylenol if the doctor lets us. We're not sure because of your cold.
Your mom and I have both been under the weather for the past few days. My cold has let up thankfully, but your mom's has gotten pretty darn bad and involves her famous sinus migraines. They are unbearable, and no one should have to suffer that kind of pain. She got a dose of antibiotics from the university nurse today, so we hope she's better in a few days. You and I have been praying for her health to return quickly so she can take care of us! :)
Your mom and I have been going through a Beth Moore (author) Bible study for the past 2 weeks. It has really shown us a lot about the character of God and how we need to live our lives. We have grown much closer to Him over the past 5 weeks. There was a little incident, and it's lingering on. We're praying that God will deliver us from our mistakes. I'll definitely be telling you all about it when you're grown up. Proverbs is a good book to live by, and I'm redefining my life by God's teachings on wisdom within its passages.
We leave for Georgia next Wednesday (12/21) for Christmas with the Rush/Pelletier families. I can't wait to see everyone again. This will be your first time to meet your Aunt Kelly and Uncle Vinnie, and your cousins Brandon and Zachary, and your Uncle Chris and your Uncle Lance. You'll also meet Uncle Vinnie's mom and dad. Of course Nana and Pepere and Aunt T and Aunt Tiffany can't wait to see you again.
We got lights and tinsel garland on the Christmas tree tonight. It looks warm and inviting, and I love Christmas time and all of the memories I have. I also look forward to all of the memories to come with you and your momma at Christmas time.
I love you sonny boy (That's what my daddy called me).

Routines

You are now in a pretty good routine with us, your family. Each night, we give you a bath, then I feed you a little bit larger meal than normal, and put you down for the night. As I'm feeding you, I rock you and when you're done, I sit you on my knee and burp you ("Can you give daddy some air?"). Then I hold you for a little bit against my chest while you settle down into a nice sleepy state. When I lay you in your crib, you usually fuss just a little, then need your pacifier. You also tend to put your little legs straight up in the air...all with your eyes closed. It's pretty darn funny. The biggest problem is that once in awhile your arms will flail which usually wakes you up a little. It's a precious time for me to watch you, and help you get to sleep each night. As a bonus, you've been sleeping through the night pretty well for the past few weeks. That means that we put you down around 11:30p and you get up around 6:30a. Before you came along, I would have thought that schedule was completely abusive, but I'm getting used to it now. I love seeing you each morning and evening. You're a really cute little guy, and I really enjoy holding you and playing with you each day.
Love, Dad.
